Chairman Message

Dear Colleagues and Esteemed Participants,
It is my distinct pleasure to invite you to the first international conference on dams and hydropower in Iran which will be held on February 14 and 15, 2012 in Tehran, a metropolitan city with breathtaking mountainous view and a great venue for our conference.

Following the second national conference which was successfully held in 2009 and attracted about 1000 participants and 630 papers, including 26 educational workshops, we decided to hold an international conference in Iran for the first time. This international conference has been planned to include inspirational program, outstanding keynote speakers, exciting new networking opportunities, workshops, and so much more.

The primary objective of this conference is to allow the dams and hydropower practitioners around the world to gather, present, and share their knowledge and experience in order to promote and enhance related research and activities. We are also pleased to announce that the third national conference on dams and hydropower will be held together with the first international conference. These conferences greatly benefit from the support and participation of Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company (IWPCO), the IR-IHA (Iranian Hydropower Association), Ministry of Energy, universities, research centers, and many other non-governmental organizations. In recent years, dams and hydropower works have considerably been growing in Iran. At present, around 1,000 dams are under operation, construction, or study.

I truly believe it is only through the exchange of information that one can hope to keep up with the rapidly changing world around us. This conference is slated to offer the unparalleled opportunity for turning implicit experience earned by hydropower professionals into explicit expertise required to improve dams and hydropower projects particularly in the developing countries. We are confident that you will take home with you a truly intellectual and socially satisfying experience.

Last but not least, as Chairman of the conference, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all who are engaged in organizing this outstanding event. Together we are looking forward to cordially welcome engineers, researchers, scholars, specialists, consultants, managers, manufacturers, financiers, and all interested participants.
