It is my distinct pleasure that the first international conference on dams and hydropower in Iran has been unexpectedly and greatly received by interested international and national participants. This once-in-a-kind event which will be held on February 06 - 11, 2012 in IRIB International Conference Center in Tehran is an excellent opportunity to promote research and industrial activities related to dams and hydropower, particularly in developing countries. In recent years, dams and hydropower works have considerably been growing in Iran. At present, around 1,000 dams are under operation, construction, or study.
The primary objective of this conference is to allow the dams and hydropower practitioners around the world to gather, present, and share their knowledge and experience. Outstanding keynote speeches, exciting new networking opportunities, workshops, and so much more are among other Inspirational programs. We are also pleased to announce that the third national conference on dams and hydropower will be held together with the first international conference. These conferences greatly benefit from the support and participation of Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company (IWPCO), the IR-IHA (Iranian Hydropower Association), Ministry of Energy, universities, research centers, and many other non-governmental organizations. As a result of such a unique contribution, more than 1150 full papers have been submitted from five continents and more than 32 countries such as the USA, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, France, England, China, and Italy. Moreover, 36 educational workshops conducted by both national and international instructors have been scheduled and it is expected that about 2000 people will participate in this important event in Iran. Besides these considerable activities, the conference exhibition will take place including more than 60 national and international companies that are ready to promote and introduce their products and capabilities in the area of dams and hydropower.
We truly believe it is only through the exchange of information that one can hope to keep up with the rapidly changing world around us. This conference is slated to offer the unparalleled opportunity for turning implicit experience earned by hydropower professionals into explicit expertise required to improve dams and hydropower projects particularly in the developing countries. We are confident that you will take home with you a truly intellectual and socially satisfying experience.
Last but not least, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who have registered and participated and who are engaged in organizing this outstanding event. Together we cordially welcome engineers, researchers, scholars, specialists, consultants, managers, manufacturers, financiers, and all interested participants.
Let's make a difference and follow our conference slogan: "A Clean Energy for A Clean World!"
Sincerely Yours
--Organizing Committee
